As we continue to adapt and do our best to manage life at Rochester University during the COVID-19 pandemic, please take note of the following news. Beginning Wednesday, November 18 and through the end of the fall semester (including final exams) all fall, 2020 RU classes will be delivered virtually. Classes currently offered face-to-face will be offered in synchronous virtual format, unless students are specifically informed otherwise by their instructor. Students currently enrolled in lab courses, practicums, and clinicals will be notified of the plans for the completion of work in these courses within the next 48 hours.
Campus residence halls and dining services will remain open and we will continue our face-covering, physical distancing, and other health and hygiene protocols in these settings. Additionally, dining services will be adjusted to accommodate to the new restrictions from the current MDHHS order. The Center for Student Life will be contacting students over the next 48 hours to determine which students need to remain in residence halls for the time being. Announcements concerning Library and ACE Lab hours and availability, along with information concerning other RU campus operations, and limitations on student gathering spaces will be posted within the next 24 hours. All organized athletic activities are suspended, and student-athletes will receive further updates later today about plans moving forward.
We understand that this semester has been difficult for you in many ways. We also understand that many of you have expressed strong preferences for face-to-face instruction and were hopeful that we would be able to complete this semester in that format. We pledge to do all that we can to provide you the support that you need as we work together to complete this semester.
Please watch your email and RU social media closely for announcements later today and in the days ahead.
